It’s a Bust: Elegant Home Accents By Anissa Kermiche

One of the places you will likely find me is an art museum. I could spend all day in one just staring at all of the beautiful paintings and sculptures and thought provoking installations. I come from a family full of people who are incredible artists, musicians, thespians, and even published authors. Growing up in a family like this has been enriching in so many ways. Instead of sitting around watching TV we grew up spending our time at music lessons, play practice, fighting over who’s turn it was to play with the piano, and sitting at the dining room table drawing our little hearts out. Artistic creation was definitely a staple of my youth.

I get so excited when I find something that speaks to me on an artistic level. I remember sitting in my grandparents living room (the one where no playing was allowed) just staring at a painting that hung over a vintage record player. The painting was oil on canvas and was of a cathedral that was crumbling. I studied it, hour after hour. It spoke to me. Everywhere you looked in that room there was something beautiful. From the tiny brass statue that sat on a side table, the beautiful porcelain nesting trays in the shape of butterflies, and the large mirror that hung over the piano, I can recall every dark green paisley and velvet gold detail.

Baby me on the green and gold sofa.

I have always dreamed of recreating the feeling of that room in my own home. Some of my most loved items from that room now live in my house including that cathedral painting, which I still spend many hours staring at. I am always on the hunt for pieces that can evoke that feeling of wonder and excitement and I found one in this gorgeous sculptural vase by artist Anissa Kermiche.

Anissa Kermiche is a jewelry designer by trade who over the years has expanded her work to include other categories such as home decor. To me, this piece harkens back to renaissance art where the human form took center stage. It’s both whimsical and a little daring and it was the perfect piece to complement my decor. She now happily sits with my fashion books and my favorite Warhol print and is overflowing with fresh flowers.  She makes me so happy!

This vase and many other sculptural pieces are available in different finishes to compliment any home decor.  You can shop my favorite Anissa Kermiche pieces here!
