Things The Wine Made Me Buy (A Series): Volume I

Drinking and online shopping is basically the equivalent of going grocery shopping when you are hungry. There are no inhibitions there to tell you that you don’t need to buy those shoes or that bag or conversely that family sized bag of Cheetos. I’ve made some of my favorite fashion purchases and also some of my greatest regrets peering into the bottom of a wine glass so I’m starting a new series: Things the wine made me buy.

The first thing we need to do here is establish a scale to rate the success or complete failure of my purchases because sometimes I come out victorious and sometimes I am slapping that return label on the box faster than the delivery truck can pull away.

The Organza Bonanza Scale of Tipsy Shopping Regret

  1. I make good decisions
  2. It’s a little hazy
  3. She really thinks she can dance
  4. The hangover
  5. Walk of shame

A 1 on the scale is the lowest level of regret with a 5 being the highest and most shameful.

First up in this series is a pair of pink JW Anderson chain embellished slides brought to you in part by several glasses of Whispering Angel Rose’. Maybe that’s where the wine gets it’s name. It literally whispered to me ‘buy the shoes’. And I listened.

So I’ve had my eye on these shoes for a few seasons and they have been sitting in my shopping cart for months. So long, in fact that they were on sale 40% off. While the price made them pretty irresistible it also meant that they were final sale so this decision was quite risky.

Another reason that I had not already followed through on this purchase is because I kept asking myself if I really needed another pair of bubblegum pink shoes. If you are a regular follower of this blog and my social channels you are probably well aware that my fashion kryptonite is a pair of pink shoes. I love them all and my closet is full of them. I was hesitating on these but somehow the combination of the sale + the wine gave me the courage to press continue to checkout!

Now for the evaluation! So far this has been a good purchase. They are casual yet elevated. And super comfortable. They have all the comfort of a Birkenstock with all the style that you expect from a brand like JW Anderson. And they match my pink Jacquemus bag perfectly. I’ve found them to work well with jeans, dresses, dress pants, and sweats.

So there is one negative that I found with this particular shoe. They do make a little noise where the chain embellishment rubs against the leather when I walk. It is not loud by any means but I hear it. Given this small flaw I would rate these a 2 out of 5 on the OB scale of tipsy shopping regret. It’s a little hazy, but I am glad that I pushed checkout.

JW Anderson makes these slides in many different colors and because it is end of season some retailers still have sales going on.
