Is Bright Pink The New Color Of The Moment?

I think we can all agree that fashion is an expression of self. Fashion trends often reflect the times that we live in and I find that to be extremely relevant now as the world emerges from seasons of lockdowns and restrictions. In 2020 we saw many designers leaning in to loungewear and basics. Now that we are on the other side, we are seeing trends emerge that reflect a new attitude. Loungewear and basics are being replaced by much more noticeable trends like party wear, sequins, and loud colors. The most obvious color trend that is coming down the runways is the color Pink.

Pink is a little bit of a controversial color. It has been associated with both masculine and feminine attire throughout history and the gender association has shifted from century to century. The brighter shades of pink are an obvious choice for someone who wants to command attention. Pop culture icons like Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy, and even Barbie have slayed in pink garments that have been remembered throughout time. Pink is the perfect color to tell the world that you do not want to be ignored.

Earlier this year Maison Valentino showcased an almost entirely pink collection. Look after look of head to toe pink men’s and womenswear floated down the runway in a bold expression of color. Taking notes from Elsa Schiaparelli’s shocking pink of the 1930’s and 40’s, the iconic fashion house collaborated with Pantone Color Institute to create the perfect shade for this attention commanding collection.

While wearing head to toe pink may not be appropriate for every occasion, you can incorporate shades of ‘look at me’ pink into your daily outfits. There are lots of really cute pink items available right now.
