Double Denim: The Canadian Tux is Back

Whether you love to hate it or hate to love it, denim on denim is back.  This look, often referred to as the Canadian Tuxedo (sorry Canada), is positioning itself to be very popular this spring.

Because of its versatility, denim is perfect for transitional weather and you likely already have a ton of it in your closet.  Buying a key piece or two can turn what you already have into a killer outfit.  This look is really easy to pull off but you need to know a few ground rules first.

  1.  Pick at least one denim piece that has some visual interest like a ruffle, print, embellishment, or something unique about it.  Oversize pieces are always a solid choice.
  2. Go with contrasting colors or an exact match, but do not pair two similar shades together.
  3. Do not go overboard.  Denim shirt + pants is a win.  Denim shirt + pants + jacket + accessories is too much.  Keep it intentional.

There are tons of interesting denim pieces available and I have rounded up my favorites for you here; click the links to shop!
